L'oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum Review

[ Funnily enough, when I first bought this anti-frizz serum, the sticker with the word Elsève was pasted over Elvive. Wonder if they had an official "name" change for it when they felt most of their consumers are mispronouncing Elsève on a regular basis? ]

WHAT IS IT: L'oreal ELVIVE Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum

THE PRODUCT(S):

L'oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum: ELVIVE Smooth-Intense with Argan Oil and Thermo Protection leaves hair feeling up to 4 times smoother* for up to 48 hours protection.

Argan Oil, an ingredient naturally rich in fatty acids, nourishes hair and calms frizz keeping hair smooth from root to tip. The Thermo Protecting agent styling tools, acting as a shield to protect your hair from frizz and flyaways even in humid weather.

VERDICT: First of all, let's talk about the scent of this L'oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum. The scent itself is rather pleasant, and doesn't remind you of stepping into a hair salon and emerging out smelling like old, musty, typical hair salon "smell". Also another great advantage to using this product, it keeps your hair smelling "decent", in the event you do not have an actual hair perfume/scent spray to get rid of those yucky smells from being in a hawker centre/food court. Very certain that the smell of this product is much better than having your hair smell like your lunch ^^

The serum itself comes in a clear and almost gel-like consistency. And you would only need a really small amount, which is just a pump-ful to get rid of hair frizziness. If your hair reaches the top of your butt, 1 pump is more than enough. More than that, your hair will probably start looking oily and feeling limp instead of anti-frizz.

And this product when used on your frizzy hair actually lasts throughout the day, provided you do not go to the toilet, wet your hands and run your wet hands through your hair. We are all guilty of doing something like this when we were all schoolgirls, no doubt. But when you grow up, this is one habit you have to get rid of. Who would want to walk around having their hair look as if they had imaginary hair gel applied? Smooth, flowing locks are the ultimatum, just like the type of hair you see on television commercials.

This L'oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum comes with a pump nozzle, so you can dispense out an appropriate amount to use. However, the size isn't really small enough to bring out with you, unless you know you are going to the beach, get a shower there. Then, you would have to bring this along to control the frizz in your hair. Although my personal recommendation is to transfer a suitable amount into a plastic container (the small round pots you can buy from Daiso), if your bag isn't that big and spacious to begin with.

But, the peeve about this L'oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum is that, it leaves this "oily" like residue on your hand after applying it to your hair. You see, you need to pump the appropriate amount onto the palm of your hand, rub it all over your palm for even distribution before applying it to the problematic "areas" of your hair, which happens to be the frizzy areas and the ends of your smooth. It's rather absurd if you pump out an amount onto the palm of your hand, and then use your fingertips to repeatedly dip into the product and apply onto your hair via the use of fingertips. The latter method won't give you anti-frizz, may take longer to apply and ended up making you frustrated. And thus, you had to have a hand washing lotion ready or on standby to wash this product out of your hands.

The best parts?

Your hair looks glossy after application and the frizz is controlled by at least a good 70%+ and of course if you use this sparingly, it can last quite a long while. And because it comes in a nozzle pump style, you can also share this with family members or even friends on a beach outing too. The serum is actually light, and although I mentioned about "oily" looking hands after applying on your hair, it doesn't at any time leaves your hair feeling oily. Just smooth. Period. And don't think that only people with "curly" or "wavy" hair gets frizzy hair. Even some of us folks with natural straight hair or rebonded hair gets frizz every now and then without warning.

But remember, never ever apply this to the root of your hair where the scalp is. Hair from your scalp seldom gets frizzy as it's new hair. Apply it towards the end of your hair.

PRODUCT RATING: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: Leave the hair frizz to gorillas! Girls don't need hair frizz!!!

WHERE TO REDEEM A SAMPLE: So far, this product has been in the market for a long while, so I doubt you can literally get "samples" to try. However, I'd recommend asking friends who use this product to share by dispening a pump-ful for you to try. (Or just half a pump-ful if you have shoulder-length hair, full pump for longer hair). You will definitely be a convert to this anti hair frizz product!

      If you apply it sparingly, it won't. But it does leaves this oily feeling on your hands though, as it's best to pump out a decent amount on your hands and use your fingers to spread it on your hair. As opposed to pumping out this serum directly onto your hair/scalp :)
