THE PRODUCT(S):
Phyto Phytocyane Revitalizing Shampoo: This product is a precious and complementary partner to PHYTOCYANE Revitalizing Serum. Enjoy denser, more lustrous-looking hair with this unique combination of botanicals that prepare the scalp for Phytocyane Treatment. Gingko biloba and cinchona bark support the scalp while grapeseed procyanidins combat free radicals and protect the hair bulb. Hair appears fuller and more abundant with each use.
The product has a very watery consistency, however, it suds up pretty decently upon contact with wet hair. And it's also easy to wash off without too much hassle.
VERDICT: Previously, I had long hair that fell to my back, just somewhere around the back of my bra-strap. Even though it wasn't as long as I previously had it around 4-5 years ago when it fell to my butt, I was actually experiencing hair loss and hair fall due to my itchy and dandruff scalp. All that scratching does lead to hair loss on a daily basis, and despite professionals and experts claiming that shedding/dropping X strands of hair per day is normal, I personally felt that it isn't really normal. Healthy hair and scalp should even exceed, say, past 30 strands of lost hair per day.
So when I got this Phyto Phytocyane Revitalizing Shampoo, I was more than game enough to give it a try. Anything is better than not even bothering or trying, isn't it? At first usage, I found that the product isn't like traditional shampoo where it's a gel-like consistency. This is more like a watery consistency, comparable to when you still have really small amount of shampoo left in the shampoo bottle and you add in water and swirl the bottle around to fully get that last amount of shampoo out of the bottle. Yep, it's like those shampoo + water mixture and I was really careful not to spill a single drop onto the bathroom floor as it is actually a small sample bottle meant for overseas trip or a really short vacation due to airflight rules on the amount of liquid you can bring in your luggage.
It has this tea-like color, similar to Breakfast Tea or black tea and it smells really minty and fresh to my over-abused nose. I never understand why, but minty-smelling shampoo tend to send signals to my brain that it should be a good product and that it will always deliver what it promises LOL Most times, I think you can really gauge the product authenticity from how minty it smells. The more minty it is, the better it would seem and I wasn't disappointed.
As soon as it came into immediate contact with my wet hair and a little bit of coaxing via scalp massage, it slowly suds up decently for my not-so-long hair. Granted that I only use a tablespoon amount for my hair, as the shampoo itself will gradually drip down to the rest of my hair near the ends, cleaning it up along the way. There's really no need to literally use a huge amount at all as you end up spending more money on shampoo when you can use the surplus money to invest in more hair products such as conditioner, treatment, etc.
Because this product is meant to use only at least once to twice a week, so for a span of 4 to 8 weeks, I have been diligently using this product at least once a week. And so far, I am glad to say that my hair loss has been greatly reduced. And now that I have short hair, I find that the hair loss is even much more reduced than before. It's like, I only dropped less than 20 strands of hair due to excessive combing out my tangled ends. (My hair tend to tangle up whether it's long or short, so I have to invest in both conditioner and treatment mask on a regular basis, not that I am complaining as I get to stay in the shower slightly longer and play with bubbles)
Honestly, this is actually the first hair-loss related shampoo I've tried so far and I am glad the first trial is actually helping my hair loss issue and having it kept to a minimum daily. The reason why I didn't buy this in the first place is that the current market is full of different brands of hair products to combat different hair and scalp solutions. My initial first priority is to get rid of or at least curb my dandruff woes, but then, I also realized that I am losing hair due to my dandruff. So, it's either try or don't. And I am glad I took the plunge with the sample bottle.

WHAT I THINK: My hair smells nice, my hair-fall is controlled and it feels so minty and refreshing on my scalp. This actually makes the price-tag easily disregarded. Sometimes, good products ARE expensive but it's well worth the money spent on it.
WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: Phyto was giving out free beauty kits in 2012, alongside with Nuxe beauty kits. I presume most of everybody I know were able to redeem both beauty kits and this sample shampoo was in my Phtyo beauty kit. I doubt you can redeem this shampoo anymore now, but almost half of their products are worth spending and trying.
Why not like my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PuNiaosProductReviews to be informed of latest samples I found, which is duly updated? Also includes updates to health, beauty & lifestyle tips at least once a day. It will definitely save you the trouble of having to hunt them down :)
