It actually looks rather coagulated. I was expecting it to look smooth and creamy somehow, instead it looks clumpy and splotchy, similar to yoghurt that has gone bad literally :O
VERDICT: First of all, I would like to state that my acne/pimple issue is under control, I hope. Basically, my pimples used to just sit on my face, unsure of it's next course of direction. Result? 1 or a few angry red bumps on my face for the next 2 weeks or so. But now, I'm kinda glad it's somewhat under control now. Pimples that show up actually goes away in under 1 week, which I personally think should be the maximum amount of time a pimple should be on your face. With so much acne and pimple coming and going, it's inevitable that there would be acne scars and blemishes on my face. I wouldn't say it's that bad, but considering that there's quite a significant amount on both sides of my cheeks, I say it's best to find something to get rid of it.
In comes this Palmer's Skin Success Eventone Fade Cream Ultra sample in which the packaging promises that it will get rid of spots, blotches and uneven patches. As it's only a sample satchet, I practically have nothing to lose at all. If it doesn't go well, it's still just a sample satchet instead of a retail-sized purchased bottle/jar. However, I think I made a mistake of applying all over my face instead of just solely targeting trouble areas.
The scent of this product actually smells similar to typical facial lotions. However, the consistency is rather weird. It looks splotchy and clumpy as you can see in the 3rd photo above. And to be honest, it's the first time I've seen a facial product that looks this way, like yogurt gone really bad when you opened a tub of yoghurt, ate it once and forgot about it for the next 3 to 4 months. Anyway, it does take a lot of massaging before the product finally looks like it's absorbed into the skin.
I would say it does help to lighten up some of my acne scars and blemishes. But at the same time, I think this product actually clogged my pores up, which resulted in more new pimples on top of existing ones. When I woke up the next day, my face looked so red, as if I am having a skin allergy going on. And it also made my cheeks feel so awfully itchy during the day. The itching gets even worse as I have to apply makeup during work as it's company policy. Imagine the itching going on but unable to scratch it due to having your makeup ruined from the scratching. Right as soon as I removed my makeup at the end of the day, it's like a mass scratch-fest for me as I struggle to relive the itching by continuously scratching at the itchy spots on my cheeks, which to be honest, is actually icthing all over my cheeks particularly.
My tip for you readers if you are really desperate to give this product a try is to apply on troubled areas on your face using a Q-tip a.k.a cotton bud wands instead of applying all over the face. As it can cause irritation on areas of your face that doesn't have spots, blemishes or scars.
VERDICT: ✓
WHAT I THINK: It's really effective in gradually lightening up dark spots and scars, but it's really pore-clogging at best. There's definitely other products that will and can perform better than this one.
WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: It was a sample satchet from Guardian's X'mas giveaway in 2012, if I recalled correctly. Thankfully, it's a sample satchet instead of a retail-sized product I bought to try :/
Why not like my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PuNiaosProductReviews to be informed of latest samples I found, which is duly updated? Also includes updates to health, beauty & lifestyle tips at least once a day. It will definitely save you the trouble of having to hunt them down :)
