Samples Received/Redeemed: 26 August - 30 August 2013

I found that this week is literally slow to the point of being able to kill off brain cells. Not much samples redemption at all, although on the contrary, I found out that Spotlight has a membership card scheme all along. Imagine how much I could have saved on my purchases over the years if I knew they had a membership card D:

I'm pretty sure you ladies (and young girls) have seen something similar at Watsons and Guardian Pharmacy throughout Singapore. Nail stickers such as these retailing for close to S$10 a pack, while I personally think it's kinda cool that nail art application can be made so much easier, simpler and even more fuss-free, I for one felt that it's really expensive to spend so much on something that only lasts approximately 10 days.

So, imagine my surprise when my mother bought all these for me. And the price? You are going to flip out when you hear it. Apparently at the wet market, she saw a lot of women hogging this one stall and when she went over to check it out, she saw all these nail stickers selling at only S$2 a pack (in short, 12 nail stickers in 1 pack) and if customers were to buy 5, they get 1 free. Basically, my mother bought 5, got 1 for free and in the end only spent S$10 in total. As opposed to actually buying at Watsons and paying close to S$10 per pack and not getting anything free in return. You do the maths and tell me which is cheaper.

Here's some more designs she got along the way LOL Honestly, I feel that the stuffs that went into these nail stickers shouldn't differ that much, regardless of the price. As ultimately, it only lasts for 10 days. So, these are definitely a steal for me :D

As mentioned at the beginning of this post, I was a little appalled to find out that Spotlight has a membership card all these years. Silly me for spending and paying at the full price when I could have gotten discounts on each visit and purchase. And the best part? They emailed you a temporary card to use first while they dispatched an actual physical membership card to your mailbox.

Personally, I think this week's accumulated samples and cheap sales haul is looking slightly better than as compared to past 2 weeks' worth of samples/haul post. It feels like it's almost only 1-2 samples collected per week, and it looks kinda sad for Saturday's post, don't you think so?

I recently went to browse around Watsons and saw these masks. Don't misunderstand, as these masks have been around for quite a decent while. The only problem is that when Watsons first brought it in is that, the choices were few, and the masks were displayed rather messily and untidy and I was a little put off, despite each mask retailing at only S$2.00 each. But this time round, it was well displayed and looked neat and tidy, hence I decided to grab a few to try it out :D

I grabbed 6 x VOV Daily Fresh Pumpkin Cool Sliming Mask, each one weighing a decent 25ml per mask.

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: None for redemption so far. But Watsons constantly have new masks brought in and each time, it mostly retails at S$2.00 per mask, so it's actually quite affordable and you can mix and match too, if I remember correctly :D

Kitoko Kalani Grapefruit Purifying Cleanser Review

WHAT IS IT: Kitoko Kalani Grapefruit Purifying Cleanser

THE PRODUCT(S):

Kitoko Kalani Grapefruit Purifying Cleanser: Grapefruit Seed possesses anti-microbial properties which relives congestion particularly for oily skin. It provides a soothing, cleansing and toning effect, leaving skin feeling fresh and luminous.

The cleanser comes in a pearl-ish blue color and it doesn't take too much fuss nor effort to sud it up.

I found that the suds from the cleanser doesn't drag my skin when I am using it, and it washes off easily too.

VERDICT: Let's talk about the scent, it's a must on this blog LOL Anyway, as the description mentioned, this is a Grapefruit Purifying Cleanser and there is a faint scent of grapefruit to it. Not the sharp acidic type, the scent is actually more "gentler" in that it doesn't make you think or feel that it will irritate your skin from the acidity. Reason being that grapefruit is reality is really sour to me, in my personal opinion. Besides, there have been beauty rumors about how using lemon juice can lighten dark spots on your skin, but that you musn't walk out into the sun immediately after using the lemon juice trick for fear that your skin will start to sting. So, rest assured that this cleanser despite claiming that it's a grapefruit cleanser and smells like the fruit itself, I found that my skin doesn't feel irritated under the skin, even hours after using it.

The cleanser itself actually spreads pretty decently without water, provided you squeeze out a good and generous amount, but it's a waste and a sacrilege to do so. As with most cleansers tested, I found that other cleansers tend to drag and pull your skin if you did not apply enough water to it. But with this Kitoko Kalani Grapefruit Purifying Cleanser, it doesn't seem to be the case at all. I squeezed out a small dollop and start spreading on the back of my hand without water initially, and realized that it still looks smooth and creamy without water added to it at all. As compared to other cleansers that looks dry to the touch and to the eye when spread around with water.

And when it's time to literally use this cleanser on my face, I found out that the cleanser spreads and suds up pretty decently with water. The entire process of cleansing my face felt so good in that the cleanser didn't drag nor pull on my skin at all. I've encountered cleansers that seems to be so good, but when it's time to literally use it on my skin during my cleansing regime, there would be the usual sensation of pulling and tugging. And we all know by now that too much pulling and tugging on our skin during our cleansing and/or beauty regime for our skin isn't good in the long run at all. And not to mention that the suds from the cleanser is washed off easily without too much fuss nor effort.

And after washing, I detect no unwanted lingering scent of grapefruit at all. In fact, I personally think it's a bonus because if the scent of the cleanser is still lingering on the surface of our skin, some of us might actually felt as if there's a layer of something leftover on our skin that we forgot to wash off in haste. And that constant nagging feeling of something on the skin can actually affect one's overall mood throughout the day too D:

Vaseline Perfect 10 Review

I like how this lotion smells powdery and despite looking so rich and creamy, it doesn't feel heavy nor oil after application.

VERDICT: The scent is actually powdery and smells really yummy, I was almost tempted to lick it literally as soon as I screw the lid open. Such is the woe of a beauty product blogger, some products just smells so yummy and delicious and for a moment there, you are really tempted to taste it despite knowing that it's not meant for consumption. It kinda reminds me of Hazeline, but much much better though since the scent is actually quite similar at first sniff.

The lotion itself actually looks creamy and rich, but thankfully, it is more lotion than creamy. And just because it looks all rich and creamy doesn't necessarily mean that it will be thick. As it is supposed to be a lotion, I found that the texture and consistency is actually good to use on a regular basis. It smooths onto the skin decently and it doesn't feel heavy nor oily despite hours after application.

For some of us who have tried body products will notice that certain products might look all lotion-y but ended up making you feel as if you have applied a thick layer of product on the surface of your skin. It gets even worse if you had a particularly sweaty and humid day out in the Singapore sun to the point where you feel hot, sweaty, sticky and disgusting when you finally made it home for the day. But not with this Vaseline Perfect 10. On the contrary, it is so light I am almost personally tempted to slather on another few more layers, with the hope that my uneven skin tone will look better instantly LOL

As I tend to use body products such as this on areas of my skin that is not that that dry while thicker products that are mostly cream-based on areas such as such as elbows, kneecap and legs, I feel that this is a good overall product that you can use all-over. Especially in my case where I need not have to split lotion-based products on oily/normal areas of my skin and thicker and heavier creams on the dry areas. This doesn't leave the dry areas of my skin feeling anymore drier than it can get. In fact, it's feels just right as I noticed that those pre-mentioned dry areas look so much better after a week of usage.

VERDICT: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: Most times, I have to literally use heavier creams on dry areas and lotions on the normal/oily areas of my skin. But with this, I need not have to do twice the work anymore on my skin :D

WHERE TO REDEEM SAMPLE: I previously redeemed this sample in August 2012. I've bought the other Vaseline tube, which is more of an oilier variety that I used when coloring my hair. So, I was a little surprised that Vaseline has decent body lotion as well and decided to redeem it to try. This was gotten from after filling in a survey, which is redeemable at CozyCot's outlet at Orchard Central. Redemption is over though.

Samples Received/Redeemed: 12 August - 16 August 2013

At last, there's hope in this world. It felt like forever since I received samples in my mailbox, and to be honest, I think I heard my mailbox sobbing real quietly sometimes. Hmm...

Previously, Rexona Singapore on Facebook was having a sampling activity going on. So yah, you get the drift, I spammed it so that everyone I know will go grab it while stocks are still available lol

Anyway, the sample has finally arrived and it's in the form of a portable/carry-around spray version. Alongside with a booklet on the benefits of using Rexona, aaand... a sweat strip to test out whether Rexona really does what it claims. Yay!!

So, I recently got a new phone because the government gave us S$500. And it turns out, the new phone line plan for the new phone is so darn expensive, I ended up paying extra for phone + phone line. Good part is that, the photos are slightly better than compared to my previous cellphone. Marie Dalgar Liquid Eyeliner Review

WHAT IS IT: Marie Dalgar Liquid Eyeliner

THE PRODUCT(S):

Marie Dalgar Liquid Eyeliner: Very fine liquid eyeliner, waterproof and is durable and doesn't smudge when dried.

To be honest, I suck at using eyeliner, be it pencil or liquid types. But I like that this doesn't smudge when dried, although the black is a little intense if you applied it with shaky hands which results in almost panda-like eyes xD

VERDICT: For the scent, I'm just going to keep it short and sweet here. In essence, it's typical liquid eyeliner scent and I doubt scented liquid eyeliners are going to appeal to anyone at all. As eyeliners of any type and/or variety is applied close to the eye lashes and probably tear duct and scented eyeliners might somehow irritate the eyes to a certain degree.

I like how when using this as a beginner, it doesn't seem too difficult to use. Simpler method is to simply dot-and-dash and then connect the "dots" or "dashes" to make it into a line. And this liquid eyeliner actually dries pretty fast, so you need not fear that it will smudge when you are applying the rest of your makeup onto your face. And personally, I haven't tried running or dashing through a heavy rain pour just for the sake of testing whether it's really waterproof or not. But I do not that if I made a mistake somehow, it is just a little difficult to clean it off with just plain tap water.

And when it is time to clean it off, my usual lathering oil makeup remover actually does the job without fuss at all. In short, I need not have to re-wash with makeup remover a second time just to get rid of the eyeliner on my eye. On the contrary, just a one-time wash is enough to get it off my eye area. And I was expecting to remove it with a little difficulty, considering that it dries pretty fast once applied onto the eye area.

Don't get me wrong, I've tried regular pencil-type eyeliner and it takes a few times for the eyeliner color to show up. But with this liquid eyeliner version, it's just apply once and the line is already there. I need not have to re-apply it anymore. And even when I touch up my make up during break-time at work, I don't need to re-apply the eyeliner anymore :) Let's just say, I experience less discomfort with a liquid eyeliner than compared to a pencil-type eyeliner.

VERDICT: ✓✓✓

WHAT I THINK: If I knew using a liquid eyeliner is so fuss free, I would have chose liquid eyeliners in the first place.
